05/27/10 Acucela CEO and Founder Participated in the U.S.-Japan Dialogue at the METI

 

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer presented at the first meeting of the U.S.-Japan Dialogue to Promote Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Job Creation at the METI. In a morning session, private-sector experts provided their perspective on a broad range of issues relating to the environment for new businesses and the possibilities to improve that environment through bilateral cooperation. In the afternoon session, interagency delegations from each side considered how to address the issues raised by private-sector participants and possible next steps.

 

05/20/10 Acucela CEO and Founder Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Award Finalist in
              the Pacific Northwest in Bothell, WA

 

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer was named a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Award in the Pacific Northwest. The awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Dr. Kubota was selected as a finalist from nearly 65 nominations by a panel of independent judges. Award recipients will be announced at a special gala event on June 18, 2010 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel.

 

05/20/10 Acucela to Present at WBBA Business Development Series: Business with Asia in Bothell, WA

 

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, will present as one of a panel of experts on a program from the Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association (WBBA) Business Development Series which focuses on Washington State's continued expansion of our Asian trade relationship and the budding partnership opportunities for life science companies in the Asian market.

 

05/13/10 Acucela CEO and Founder Named as Finalist in the 2010 American Business Awards in Bothell, WA

 

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, was named a Finalist in the Executive of the Year category in The Stevie Awards 2010 American Business Awards. The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit entries to the ABAs. Stevie Award winners will be announced during the annual gala on Monday, June 21 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The event will benefit Oceana (oceana.org), the largest international organization focused on ocean conservation. The ceremonies will be broadcast on radio nationwide by the Business TalkRadio Network. More than 2,700 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories.
